This is a photo of the gas tank looking from the inside of the hood. I noticed that the fuel gauge was not hooked up and thought I would do that. Then I found out that this tank doesn't have a sending unit. My thought was to drill a hole in it and install one. But I need to know what this tank mioght of came from so I know what I'm looking for to purchase a sender. Any kind of help would be nice.

I'm sorry Schrocky and others. After I posted the last message and shout the PC off, I understood what you were saying. The cut and bend make it fit. I forgot about those out their.

Here is something that I'm bothered of. I have a photo of Dad's 335 gas tank. Its located their. The sender in this 335 is really bought and orderd for a 445. It doesn't work well because the 335 is a 6 volt and 445 is a 12 volt. Beceids the voltage it works fine. With a full tank the gauge shows a half tank. My books shows both 335 14 gallon, and 445 a 17 Gal tank (except utility). Where the tank is bolted to the enging has washers stacked to space the mounting difference.

Anyway...I'm gonna look into NAPA for one. I would like to know if the 445s are located on the back side of the tank and not the front for sure.

Again...Thanks and sorry for me not thinking before I type.

The sender is out of sight, behind the fuel door where you can't see it. Replacement senders are generally universal in nature and come with instructions as to how to get the float length proper. That being said, they don't lend themselves to being mounted on a plane that's not verticle nor is it horizontal. Do the best you can.

I think the senders on those tractors are on the back of the tank ( on the tapered part just above the mounting bolts on the inside of the cast iron steering shaft support) Not sure how else you can look at it other than removing the tank, or trying to spot it with a mirror to see if it is there. Ill have to take a look at my 445 to see if there is another way you can get at it.

I have changed numerous sensors by going to NAPA or Carquest and buying a universal tank sending unit with float for around $18. They come with all instructions and have always worked well for me. On the outside they look just like originals
