Anyone know what it cost to have a MM head magnafluxed or pressure tested? Is it best to have it magnafluxed AND pressure tested?

I have had several LP heads[4210 mostley] that will crack inside of the exhaust port and the only way that this crack can be found is to have the head pressure checked and spray solvent or WD 40 into the port, if it is cracked it will be easy to see as the solvent will blow out. I do not think these heads can be repaired as the crack is to far inside the port and can not be seen.

Alan, I came across a bill here for magnetic particle check (magnaflux) for one head on a 705 and the charge was $24. I would go that route. If it checks OK, then there's no need for a pressure check. I've only had a pressure check when something fails the particle check because sometimes there are cracks discovered in the particle check that have no affect on the serviceability of the unit. For instance, there can be be (and quite often is) cracks around the freeze or expansion plug but I sure wouldn't replace a head because of that.

Thank you very much for the info. Ive just had ZA and ZBs that I did engine work on before. Dont usually have head problems on those. Just getting into changing (sometime) a head on an M5 and checking ones on an M602. I spotted a pair of 4209s Im wondering if they will work on the M5. It was an lp converted to gas--has a 4210 and 4206 on it. The 4206 is cracked from the frost plug down.
