I've looked at four 950's on LP that have the proper engine and transmission tags. The engine spec tags are for D-504. What has happened here? There is no evedince they have been changed.

Guys,
Interesting discussion. What are the serial numbers on the crankcase tags? G950LP 425 engines should start with "446". Diesel 451 should start with "447". G1050LP 504 engines should start with "443" and diesel with "444". Interestingly there was even a serial number range "445" for a gas 425 in the 950 and 955 but I'm not aware of any such tractor ever being produced.

Brian

Hey guys. I thought something catastrophic happened to my G950 diesel to. The service adjustment tag read for a 504 so I checked serial numbers of crankcases of the 950 diesel and the 1050 in the shed. Both tractors have the same parts number crankcase 10A24750 The 950lp I have is a 20 dash number 200007585. The parts manual says it should be 11B24749? What gives with that? It is a very late 950 LP s.n. 43500155

All the late model lp crank cases are the same as much as I know. I thinks all the lp cranks are the same too. The diesel block is different than the LP block. It doesn"t have the govener hole in the side.

Hank,
My 950 has the 451 diesel in it, I think. The tag on my engine also says D504. I dont know if they used the same crankcase on all these tractors or what. I have always wondered if someone had blown the motor in mine and put a 504 in it. I dynoed it the other day and it wa right around 105-110hp. We weren't positive on the proper procedure to dyno that tractor but that is where it/we stopped cranking it down. 110 hp seems alot like a G1050 spec though. PS Send one of those 950LP's up here for me, what do you think shipping would be for that? Ha Ha. Might cost more than a narrow front. I guess I could check the block part number and see what it is. Anyone know off their head what that number would be?
