You've got a 1951 R model based on the engine serial number you listed. Look on the right side of the trans housing below the hand clutch lever to find the tractor serial number tag (if its still there). The other data on the engine plate should be like "EE 3-5/8x4 4cyl". Your "40clef" could be "4 cyl EE". There's quite a few R models out there. What type front end does yours have? Two narrow set tires, one tire, standard fixed tread, adjustable wide front? They made over 25000 R models. They can get expensive if they're stuck. What you described sounds like a $500 tractor or less. They never came with spoke rear wheels so someone has done some swapping over the years.

I have never seen one to my knowledge. I just have this Minne-Moline Serial Numbers booklet that lists all the three digit prefixs of the serial numbers, and that is what is shows for "017". Thought it would help some. Most of my stuff is newer, a UBU-LP. 445N-LP, 445E-LP, M5E-D, and M670E-LP Plus a parts UB and M602. I may decide to try to get the M602 back together, I keep looking at a Chrysler Industrail 440 pump engine and wondering how to get it bolted to the MM tranny. Or maybe a Cummins 5.9L?

My information says that "017" prefix should be on an engine for a 1948 R tractor. Look for another ID plate on the side of the transmission, possibly down in behind the brake pedals.

Byrce, Do you have any Information on the 1948 R . It seems that there in not much info around about these tractors. What about parts for them? What is this tractor worth? It has the spoked rear wheels but the rims are rusted out, and no front wheels. Other wise the tractor is all there except the starter is also missing. The oil looked good and I dont think it is stuck. It did not have any water in the oil.
