Can anyone tell me if there are any common or notorious problems with the M5 model?

Also, I am interested in an M5 with 2900 hours on it, runs good, has good rubber, and is equipped with a good Bush Hog Feeman front-end loader. This guy wants $6500 for it. I think this is too much. Any good advise or suggestion on what I should offer for it? I appreciate any help.

JKC

PTO shafts seem to have a bad habit about breaking off. I have had two, the shafts either bend or break off completely. When I tried to find one in different salvage yards they were either broken or already taken out. Hydraulics are a little weak also.
Some times the heads crack, seems like they crack more than other makes of tractors. Other than that they will run forever, well almost.
Price seems alittle high for me.

We had one that we used on a koyer loader hyd. pressure was not great. We had the heads overhauled and it was a disel that ran great. We sold it over 15 years ago and it brought $2250
with the loader. It would run for ever. We used it on the front of a 510 john deere bailer, had troubles in the hills but was fine on flat or rolling ground. Price seems high but depends on location.
