I am looking at a ZB. It has a small knob under the seat and a big lever near the clutch. How does this system work? My main concern is being able to kill pto power right now if needed. It seems like it has to be engaged with the clutch in but after that it can be stopped. What does the big lever do? And, could a larger hyd. reservoir be added to the system on the tractor?I also want to know if a wide front can be had for these. Jim

Jim,
The ZB's had an optional independent PTO. The lever under the seat engages the PTO shaft on both independent and non independent models. The large lever on the left side by the clutch pedal is for the independent PTO. It activates a clutch pack on the left side brake shaft. Its like having a hand clutch that stops the tractors motion but still allows the PTO to continue turning. The foot clutch is still engaged but the hand clutch interupts the power flow at the LH brake.
To kill PTO power right away you would need to disengage the lever under the seat or push in the foot clutch and disengage the hand clutch together. Just pushing in the foot clutch will allow your PTO equipment to push the tractor with its rotating mass thus you also need to disengage the hand clutch. Also, ZB's are not equipped with a PTO brake.
I hope this makes sense.
Brian
