Got me a new starter from CT, but the solenoid I have wont mount to this starter. My old starter had 3 tapped holes, 2 radially, or 2 paralell with the starter with one being common to both patterns. Old starter uses the 2 paralell and a copper strap mounts to the stud of the solenoid and then screws into the copper "spud" from the starter. The new starter (rebuilt one)only has the 2 radial tapped holes and no hole in the spud. I am assuming there is an older style solenoid that makes contact with this spud? They still available, or do I just drill and tap a hole and use the solenoid I have? Anyone no what the heck I am talking about? Thanks for any input!

Is your "new" starter set up for the lever activation vs. the elec. activation?

I guess I dont know enough to tell you. My guess is, now that you say lever operation, it must be set up for that. I am assuming that the solenoid comprises of a lever which is activated to make contact with the copper spud on the starter, which inturn connects current for starter operation?

If this is true, can I convert this starter by simply drilling and tapping a hole in the copper spud for the electrical activated solenoid and connecting the stud of the solenoid to the copper spud with the existing strap? (That is how my old starter is setup.) Or is the lever solenoid the way to go, and are they available?

Thanks!

We do have available lever activators, in the past we for various reasons made the modification you're thinking and it can be made to work. Good luck, Dale
