does anybody know of asource for a group2L battery to fit under the gas tank?group 2 batteries leave very little clearance to the gas tank.or do you have any other solutions to this problem other than moving the battery off to the side.iwould like to keep it original so i would rather not convert to12 volt to use alow profile battery

Exide Battery no longer makes the 2L battery. Stores like TSC or even New Holland Dealers do not carry that size battery anymore since their batteries are manufactured by Exide. You'll have to find a distributor of batteries manufactured by GNB (There's only really 2 main battery manufacturers anymore - Exide and GNB). I've heard that early VW Beatles used the same 6V battery so if you're not having any luck maybe ask for one for a Beatle.

Eddie,

I go to a place in Omaha, NE called Action Battery, and they get me the shorter battery to fit under the fuel tanks of the R's and U's. When I told the guy what I needed he knew immediately what to get, said it was a better battery as it was more or less hand assembled. I've been very satisfied with them. I've seen a lot of these tractors where people did mount the battery on the side or raised the fuel tank in some fashion. Any good battery distributor should have what you want. Hope this helps.

Jim
