Taylor, MM made a tractor with a G designation from about 1940 through the mid 50's. Then they used the 'G' designation followed by a number from then up into the '60s. Most said something like 'GTA', 'GTB', 'GB' on the serial number tag. Of course, to confuse us, MM also probably made some that said just plain 'G' on the tag. So with just that letter its hard to tell what year it is. I'm guessing that your tractor is a 4-cylinder (Diesel GB's had six). As far as I know, the engine is 403 cu. in, and MM also made a number of 403 power units, but there were some differences. For instance, the GTA used a different bell housing than most of the others. Not all parts fit all. I don't think all flywheels interchange. Don't know about clutches. Another thing. If you buy the tractor, try to get the engine mounts that hold the front of the engine to the sub-frame. And if the old engine was swapped into a U, it'd be great to have to old water inlet neck into the pump and the water return mainfold as well.
