Budy (has rebuilt and repaired a number of old tractors) just rebuilt a G, if he pulls it it will start and run at what ever throttle setting it is at. However, if you try to let out the clutch it acts like it is running out of gas then dies. It is getting gas as you can flood it with the choke. He rebuilt the mag and it has a long hot spark. Any ideas? My thought was put MM Oil in the cly, and then start it (up the compression) He is open for suggestion. Thanks

You, might check the goverenor to see if its workimg . Timing is another thing ,like Kelvin, said the plugs can cause a problem and others fuel restriction can be a problem . One thing I,have ran into is over torqued rod and main bolts the fellow could pull start the tractor ,but the starter wouldnot start the tractor.

I had some of the same symptoms with a '51 U LPG.
No power at all and a bear to start. My problem was that I "Got Smart" and opened up the gap on the plugs to about .035". The ole minnies do not like that at all! Throw a new set of plugs in it and set them at the reccommended gap. For mine, it was .022" and the powerhouse is back!

If you have a rubber fuel line replace it. We had a garden tractor that would run fine until under any load. The fuel line had seperated in the inside and would pinch off inside and starve it for fuel. It ran fine when it was not under any load like engaging the mower deck or driving in second gear or higher. Another thing unhook the air cleaner hose as you may have a partial plug in the system.

I had a Jetstar giving me fits with about the same description you give. start and idle fine, but no power under load. After literally months of fooling including rebuilding the carb, I changed the screen in the filter bowl and it runs great.

Another place to check is the inlet in the fuel tank, and all the line to the carb.
