Is the rear end of a 602 the same as a 670 or M5? What rear end was used in a 5 star, M5?
Thanx.

All 5 Stars and the early M5s had internal plumbing for the hydraulics. At some point in the production run of the M5s the hydraulics were improved and swithed to external plumbing. The M5s with the external pumping were not machined to also work with the internally plumbed system. The later M5s and all 602s (I believe) were the same. When the 670s were started, there were some casting changes and I am not certian about the internals but the hydraulis remained the same for a while ( Not certain if changes were made when they went to the 670 Super).

The 5 Star, M5 & M602 all use the same part number Diff case & are basically the same. The 670 uses a different case. There may be some differences in the gears but the assemblies would interchange. (some of the later ones had external plumbing for the hydraulics while the early ones had internal plumbing)
Hope this helps.

Will a torque from a G1000 fit into a 602 or M5 tranny?

The M5 & M602 used rollers and springs in the torque as the one way clutch while the G1000 used a sprag type clutch so just parts will not interchange but I think the whole torque assembly (only the clutch & housings portion) will fit. MM had a replacement for them at one time that used the newer sprag type clutch & it was used on the M670's.

I don't think the complete torc of G1000 wil fit in M-5's etc.

I would have to check my parts books and Micro fiche files but I'm pretty sure the G1000 torc is heavier and will not interchange with the smaller tractors. The 670 was equiped with a sprague unit and it could be put in older tractors but would require complete unit. The sprague unit is much better than the springs and rollers.
