I have a BF that appears to have been red at the start and the possibly painted yellow it appears to have had the MM decals on it at one time the serial # is 4999 I have read that the BF MM started at ser.# begining with 6 with a few 5's Does anyone know exactly at what ser# did MM start to repaint the Averys? Any help would be appreciated!

My serial number reference only states that some time during 1952 the color was changed from Avery red to MM Prairie Gold. 1952 serial numbers were from R4460 to R6537. My guess would be that yours might have been originally red but when MM started painting them prairie gold some dealers probably repainted them to match the new ones coming off the line or the factory may have updated them before shipment.
