M5 Gas, cylinders full of water for years. One cylinder cracked from inside out, others very rusty, heads appear to be good. Question, give up and part out or go for the fix? Will I need new jugs and if so where do you get them and how expensive are they?

Cracked blocks were a common ailment on M 5s. We used to replace the and just reuse the heads. Our problem occured in the winter when we used it with a tank heater. The cold water from the block without a tank heater would circulate over to the warm block and crack it. The tractor is worth rebuilding, as it is a good unit. A source for blocks or repair is Diesel Cast Welding co in the Minneapolis Minnesota area. They do repairs on blocks and heads. Good luck, Sam
