I was wondering if any of you fella's could tell me if a 504 block would bolt right on the MMGBD original 425-6D housing. Could I run this setup with the same crank? where would I find a set of 504's? Any help would be appreciated....

The 504 diesel blocks will bolt on the 425 diesel crankcase with out any problems the 425 and 504 diesel engines have the same stroke, rod jurnal dia, rist pin dia, and compression height. You can use the 425 heads or 504 heads. But remember like Glenn said you do have to watch the belhousing on the crankcases if you change crankcases there are large and small belhousing crankcases.

Non-diesels engines are different. The early 425's had a differen't rod dia than the later 425's and 504's. The later non-diesel 425's have the same journal dia as the 504's. The early 425's have a shorter pistion than the later 425's and 504's.

The crank mains and rods are the same dia on both the 425 diesel in the GBD and the 504 diesel in G705 thru 708 as well as the G1000 & early A4T's. The wrist pin diameters are the same as well. I would use the rods from the 504 also so you get the later rods. rods, pistons & jugs should bolt right on your GBD crankcase. You might also consider using the Rosa-master pump and lines from the 504 as well. The whole engine from the G705-G708 will bolt right in the GBD tractor but the engine from a G1000 won't because the bell is smaller on the G1000. Hope this helps, John

why change blocks, the stroke is the same. there is nothing to gain. the blocks will not bolt up anyway. The gbd has the big bellhousing.
