MM Model ?

Trying to figure out model # of MM. Single front wheel, Elct. start with handcrank, Manifold on top of four cylinder eng.,Head on side, hand clutch. Has tag but can`t read. Was told it is a 39 or 40 model year.

Bob,
It sounds like you have found ethier an "R" or A "Z". Both had the side head & top exhaust manifold. There sohuld be a serial tag near below where the hand clutch handle connects to the tractor. If there are brake drums above the rear axle the it is a Z as the R brakes are inside the axle housings.

JK is right I'll leave a couple address of pages that have pictures of an R and a Z. Also if it is an R the exhaust will or should come out the frount and side of the hood a Z should have the exhaust come strate up the middle of the hood. If you have a later ZA or ZB the exhaust will come out like the R's.

Bob,
The R has an over center Twin Disc clutch. If it is just slipping, it is adjustable to make tight again so it won't slip. If you have taken it apart and it worn out, some of the parts sources on the M-M site should be able to help you with parts or you could possibly get them through an industrial parts supplier that handles Twin Disc parts.
