Minn. Molines never became popular in Pennsylvania, or the northeast for that matter. I like em' but why didn't they catch on here in the east.

We have quite a few Minnie-Mo's in the Midwest and have often wondered what dictated a farmer to buy what brand. Last winter I bought a 1952 A/C WD from the original owner. I noticed he still used an A/C WD45 too. So I asked why he chose that make. His answer, "That's the brand with the closest dealer!" Simple as that.

I'm from NC. From what I understand, the Frick Co. Aren't they from Waynesville P.A.? that made sawmills had the dealer territory on the West Coast. Although they sold some tractors through their dealerships, they were in the sawmill and thresher business and that is really what they pushed. Many of the MM's I see down here still have the Frick tag on them.
Also, I've been told that some of the MM 'dealers' down here and in SC were dealers in name only they had no tractors on hand, nor any parts inventory, but would get either if the customer wanted them. That's not how you make a brand popular in your area. Of course price would have been a factor. almost any MM was more expensive than a 9n ford.

I think it was realy dependant on the dealers in the area. I grow up in western Pa with Molines and we had a realy good dealer in the area. Molines are still going strong there.
