As a "green" guy from the east coast, I have a question about MM tractors. Is there a rhyme or reason behind the model designations? Looking thru ads, I will see UU, RR,and the UDLX. I am not trying to make anyone upset, but is there a "Code" to figure this out. Again, we don't see many M-M on the east coast, just trying to see the light.
Thanks

I'm not quite sure where you seen the UU or RR, as Minneapolis-Moline never had these models that I know of. I'll try to explain as well as I can. The first two letters of the model indicate just that, the "model". The last letter for the most part as far I can can tell refers to the rear axle and front end. For example: an RTE would be a model RT with an "E" axle which means that it is adjustable. Now if you had a RTS, it would still be a model RT obviously, but with an "S" axle that is non-adjustable. Now to go even further, a model RTU is a model RT with a "U" front end, which means that it is a model with a double wheel front end. A RTN is the same model with a single wheel front end. I hope that this helps. If I can be of any more assitance please let me know.

If you need to know anything about those lovely MM tractors. Another person to ask is vista1000@webtv.com his dad was a dealer for many years. As for he has built a lot of strong pulling tractors out of all of those crazy lettered tractors. Thanks

Hi Stacy, I, too, have a few green ones around here to make the yellow ones look even better! The way I see it, the first letter is a Model designation (like R or G). The second is a 'T' for TRACTOR. The third has to do with the front axle (I think but not sure!).

The UDLX may be for 'Model U delux'. As it was.

Yes, it is a secret code to keep outsiders in the dark. If you don't get it by now, you never will.

Seriously, there is no code to it. The model designations are just what they are, model designations. Just like Chevy or Cadillac comes up with different names for their different cars. Don't try to look too deep into it for a hidden meaning, there isn't one.
