Does the literature indicate which model Detroit was in it?

Thanks for the information. If I get some time, I may look for a "G". I have a 471 from a 1953 GMC truck. It needs something to do. I like the unique sound of the 2 cycle engines.

I have a GTA with a 471 GM in it.Of course it was done by my father not the factory. He wanted a 371 but could only find a truck with the 471.It did all the plowing and disking on the farm for 13 years. He slowed the engine to 1600 so it would not tear up the rear. Now it sounds like it is hardly running when I drive it.

Do you know if it bolted right up? Did he use the clutch from the truck ; or, the tractor clutch and pressure plate? Thanks for posting. Paul

He used the clutch from the truck and it was converted to a foot pedal from the hand lever(hard to hold a spring loaded clutch). It did not bolt right up.The GTA used the older style rear and had an adapter from the engine to the rear.It looks like there is one large round plate that is home made it bolts to the rear and the truck bell houseing (where it turns squareish in frount of the transmission) bolts to it.He told me that the inner shafts had to have a piece made on a lathe to join the two haves.I took it to an antique tractor show 2 years ago and it caused quite a stir.
