But I don't know anything about molines. Please tell me about the 670, What is the HP, is the 670 considered to be a good tractor, what is the commom problems with this model, is the price too high? Any input or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

We bought a new 670 gas in the mid '60's. It was a good tractor. Excellent lugging power, with 336 cu. in. (as I remember) with lower rpm's. Checked right at 80 hp after a tune up. Only complaint might be the gear spacings. Hi 2nd was a bit fast for plowing, low 4th was slightly slower but gave no further speed reduction for tough spots, 3rd low was too slow for plowing as was 1st hi. In other words the amplitorc was perhaps too much difference than the untorqued speed. However at times this was good, such as on the baler.

I bought a 1966 670 super gas 2 years ago and I am really pleased with it. I dont see how you could go wrong for the price.

That's a great buy if in real nice condition. That's a lot of cheap, reliable horsepower for that little bit of $. A little 30 horse Ford will sell for more than that.

I grew up w/ a Super 670 diesel and 30 yrs later I have a 1966 model. Tuned up it has 68-72hp. Over the yrs it has been realiable- a complete engine overhaul 6 yrs ago & last yr rebuilt the pto shaft in the rear end. The only big thing that needs attention is the ampli-torque. Depending on the amount of use:heavy plowing etc, it may need replaced every 4-6 yrs. If just for cultivating, planting ,haying etc, it should last longer. The key w/ it is keeping it properly adjusted, something very easy to do once or twice a yr depending on use. My neighbor has a 3020&4020 & while the 4020 has more power, it pulls 5 bottom well instead of 4 on the 670, the 670 only uses a little over 3 gal per hr intead of the JD using 6 per hr. If the 670 is in average mechanical shape its a good buy at 2500.

I was MM dealer from 1949 until the early seventies. In my area we sold mostly LP tractors. I consider the 670 the best tractor MM made after 3 pt was introduced
