The exhaust manifold on my 445 has a cover plate at the front of the manifold held on by two bolts. A friend told me this was to allow for an exaust system to be run out of the back of the tractor. The gasket for this cover plate blew out and I decided to fix it rather tan put up with the noise. When I removed it, the plate cracked in two. What is the correct name for this part and are they available from Agco or will I need to find an MM bone yard or have one made?

I had the same problem, except I dropped mine when I took it off. I cut one out of 1/4" plate and made a gasket out of head gasket material. I bet one of the MM parts suppliers can help you, at least with the gasket. go to jetstar.minneapolis-moline.com and look under parts suppliers.
I like to deal with Welter's and Everett's.

You can still get these from your dealer. No gaskit was used on this plate. One fabracated from a flat plate works fine, mine did. There is also no gaskit shown in the parts manual for a gaskit on the center pipe adapter.

Thanks, Everett's is not more than an hour from here. If the Agco dealer doesn't have one, I'll call him.

The original plate was flat on the out side but had a concave area on the inside. I am assuming that this aided flow due to smoothing out the stream instead of bouncing off a flat plate? I take it you didn't notice any difference with the flat plate that you made out of 1/4 inch?

I couldn't tell any difference in the flat plate.
The only difference is that it is steel and not cast iron.

Wouldn't you be able to take like a 4" angle grinder and sort of grind out the concave like the old one? I think that if you were careful you could do a pretty good job of re-creating a near stock part.
