I have a mm 206 engine and was wondering if I should keep it deisel or change it to gas? I already have on jet star 3 gas it would be a change to have a deisel. Is it hard to change them over? Thanks matt

Double check me on this one but I do not believe that the diesel crankcase is drilled for the govener rod.

I don't really understand your post. Are you asking if you can just change heads and install an injection pump to make a diesel out of a gas?

The 206 Diesels had much bigger piston pins, different, heavier rods and used different pistons. (Which I think are pretty hard to get.) Besides heads, I don't know what else was different.-except the diesel doesn't have a governor.

the diesel uses a much bigger starter too, and dual batteries.

You'll also need the little casting that takes the place of the carbruretor on the intake manifold.

If you go the other way,Diesel to Gas, Of course you'll need to install a carbruretor. And a governor, linkage and all. It goes on the crankshaft, so you'll need to pull the front pulley and maybe the front off the tractor. My 206 diesel crankcase has the external hole for the link, don't know if machined inside for governor or not-probably is.

Some other things to check: Block height might be different. Do pushrods interchange?

I had a Jet3 diesel in the mid 90's with a blown engine and after looking at all this, I decided to find another gas engine.

I have two 206 engines, one is a gas that is not running and missing a lot of parts, the other is a deisel that has a broken camshaft. I was wondering I I could replace the cam, switch heads and make it a gas? I don't know much about rebuilding deisel, but I can do anything with a gas. That is why I would prefer to make the deisel a gas.
thanks for the input matt

If you've got the rods, pistons, cyl blocks and heads for the 'gas' I would fix it. That way you'll have a serial number on the engine that actually portrays what you've got, and you won't have to swap every bit of the governor stuff into your diesel.
This coming week is exam week, but if you want I can check what other parts interchange next week.

Kel.
