How do I get max horsepower from the R Moline?

Dragged home a '46 R last weekend. The engine is stuck, and was full of acorns and mouse houses. Since this thing is going to need an overhaul anyway, I figure I might as well build it right the first time. Plan to do some pulling with it.

What do I need to do to this thing to get the most out of it and still be Division III legal?

Can you find out if the early 206 (like what is used in the ZB) and the if the late 206 (used in the 445) are legal. The orignal engine maybe OK in division II.

I thought about the 206. NATPA Div III rule #15 states that you have to use the stock block and head OR manufacturer's replacement. I guess the next thing is to do some research and try to find out if the 206 is listed in the parts book as a replacement engine for the R.

Do you know if the 206 still a series EE engine?

It is very hard to tell the differnce between the two engines. the only way you tell from outside of the engine is were the oil guageline is found on the side panel or the block. i am not suggesting you cheat but is is the cheapist way to gain an inch of stroke. Other wise you can bore out the throat between the carb and manifold for more air/fuel mixture.
