Rear axles MM 49 uts

Going to replace gaskets and oil seals on rear axles, have removed large axle nuts from bull gear,pulled axle housing from tractor,removed large snap ring from inner bearing
but can not remove axles from housing, Can one of you fellows give me any info...thanks ps.have tried bumping axles with 10lbs. and block of wood.

If all you want is to replace the seal at this point, the seal is in a flange on the outer end of the axle housing. If the axle is loose in the bearings, remove some shims from between that plate and the axle housing.

I have axle and housing on work bench,large snap and flange oil seal removed, but cannot remove the axle it self from housing??? thanks brian :-(

BKG,

Like Kelvin said, the only seals on those axles are in the cover on the end of the axle housing- an oil seal and a felt ring. No need to pull the whole thing. If you still want to get the axle out of the housing you simply have to get a little meaner with it, the only thing holding it is the outer bearing cup. Be very careful not to wreck those threads, but I think you already know that. Hope this helps.
