When running down the road in 5th gear,if you start to pull a hill it will shift down to the low side by itself. Once back on flat ground or going down hill it will shift itself back to the high side. Is the ampli-torque going out, or does it need to be adjusted?

I believe that the Torqe amplifier on the Jet Stars is the same as the 445's If I'm right, don't pull the torque amplifier into low while going down hill! This will allow it to free wheel and you will have nothing to slow you down but the brakes. On a steep long hill this can be dangerous.

If the torque is adjusted properly it should take a decent pull of the lever to put it in low range. The torque lever when in low range is there without being held there. When in low if you went over a couple bumps the lever may bounce slightly. When in the high range is should stay there firmly. It tells in the operators manual how to adjust them. Email me if you need manuals for this tractor I have some to sell. If adjustment is not the cure you may have to split the tractor and check out the torque assembly. Posibly a bad thrust bearing may cause this.

The handle is not being moved at all it stays on the high side. But you feel the tractor down shift. Once you get off the hill you have to pull it back into low then shift it back to high, to get it off the low side.
