Hi, I was at a pull a few days ago and there was a G1000 Diesel there. I don't think it won the class, but it beat a farm stock Case 5240 by 30-40ft and the MM was stock with only a few weights on the back. Anyway, here's my questions. What size diesels were available in the G1000s? Were they turbo'ed or intercooled? 585? I searched and read some came with an 810! Is that true? What is Ampli-torque? Is it powershift or a hi-lo like AC power-director or Farmall torque-amplifier? How much would a G1000 diesel weigh? Thats all for now, Thanks, Jordan

The G1000 tractor came with a 504 cu in. engine in both diesel and Lp. Turbo"s that I know came from the factory were originally for altitude compensation. They did turbo the G1050 and also the A4T-1400 - thats another story. No intercoolers. Later MM did have a program to install 585 engines in to G1000 Vista's and the like. There was special orders of HD800 LP engines in G1000 Vista's, G1350 and A4T-1600 LP's. MM did make a 605 diesel but not for a tractor that I'm aware of. The story is that MM used the 605 diesel to start with to make the MAN 585. A ampli-torque is a under drive in both 2 speed and 3 speed. As for weight about 10, 000 to 11,000 pounds empty.
