Hi folks, I'm still painting this tractor. The Grill had NO paint on it to determine the original color. The sheet metal plates around the head lights are black. Should the screen grill be black, or white? Thanks, Scott

Scott,
Here's my 2 cents. I believe the grilles were originally galvanized metal from the factory. The grilles on several of my 66 and later tractors still had the original galvanizing in spots. It doesn't flake off like paint. I use stainless steel paint for my grills and rims. It looks closer to galvanizing than silver paint and its available from Rust-Oleum in aerosol cans at Lowe's and Home Depot. It's part of their industrial paints line. I think any shade close to silver would probably work fine. They definitely weren't black from the factory.

On the cover of the origional sales literature it shows it silver. All of the super series M-M's that I can remember that we had at work to fix or sell were silver. On the fenders the plate around the lights were black. On the rear fender plate that doesnt have the worklight they had a smaller lettered Minneapolis-Moline mane decal in a white color. I think the leters may have also been the reflective type but I am not 100% sure. If you have any other questions on it give me a email.

Any of them that I have seen are silver. I have never known of any of them to be black.

The grill screen is black on mine and all I've seen.
