I have a question about the molines tractors from late 60's. Were all of the parts painted oliver green and then painted yellow for the Moline line. I have found a Moline that the paint is falling off the rearend and three point hitch and under neath it is green anyway thanks

The primer used under the paint on late model Molines was a dull green color. I have seen Oliver green paint under the red on White combines so I would say it is possible that a 55 series Moline could have Oliver green under the yellow.

There were no green MM of any kind before 1971. Than it was an all green oliver painted yellow or an all yellow minnie painted green. as for the MM's that shared parts with Oliver they were the 55 series tractors 1973 and 1974. Here in Kansas the 55 series tractors were the last straw for MM the oliver rear ends blew out early because of over loading. also the early MM's had gear pealing problems from pulling more than they were rated for. They ran these MM very hard in the kansas oklahoma area's, Tractors didn't get a break, working hard all day plowing until they blew up. to say oliver fixed MM problems would be a joke. Overloading these and all tractor was the problem. give me a tractor and I can break it, I can also make that tractor last by maintaining it properly and using it the way it was intended to be. I have a friend that say's JD 4020's are the best tractor ever made and another friend paid for a quarter section of land fixing busted 4020 rear ends. maybe sometimes its

Well yes and no, The rearends where Oliver and the motors where Minnie and you could get the same tractor in either brand the difference really was the paint. This happend after the buy out and merger of the two companies. Oliver built a better rearend to hold up against the Minnie motors. One of Minnies weak points was the rears they had lots of problems with them. Oliver solved it for them. Kevin "mushy" Moschenrose

Other then the early 1000s MM had a great transmission. I got nothing against Oliver but that 18 speed is not as great as some people think they can`t stand any amount of power and I always thought that they were very noisy

I would differ and say that MMs rearends and transmissions were anything but their weakpoint. Some of the early G1000s had some problems with soft bull gears, but the later tractors transmissions, torques, and rear ends were rock solid, in my opinion.
