I have a 39 ztu and it runs like a top until it warms up and then it starts popping/missing and only running on 3 cyclinders. I remove the suspect wire and it runs the same. I checked for spark later on and it had spark and good compression. Tractor has sat for 4 years and only recently been running. Could it be that a vavle will stick when it warms up?

I agree with kelvin. I would check it out before you run it anymore as this is a good way to burn out a perfectly good valve.

perhaps your valve clearance is too tight and one of the valves (probably exhaust) is holding open when it warms up.

I would say that could be a possiblity, remove the valve covers and check things out, you might not be getting oil on all the valves, i have seen that happen
good luck
