I need some guidance on the normal time in summer when starting my GB on vapor, how long before pushing in choke, and when to turn to liquid. It starts good on vapor with choke fully closed, but if I open choke, engine starts to falter. I have not expermented on how long to leave choke closed. I'm just playing with the new toy in the shed. I have no previous experience with L P tractors. Thanks for any and all help

WONDER IF SOME OF YOU MOLINE EXPERTS COULD TELL ME IF THERE IS A VISIABLE EXTERIOR DIFFERENCE IN THE 59 GVI MOTOR AND THE LARGER CID POWER UNIT ENGINE .I THINK IT IS AROUND 600 CID . AM THINKING OF LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE AND OUR PULLING CLUB CAN BE A STICKLER ABOUT THE RIGHT ENGINE BEING IN THE RIGHT TRACTOR. SURE WOULD HATE TO FIND OUT AFTER PURCHASING ONE OF THESE THAT THERE IS A VISIABLE DIFFERENCE AND BE DISQUALIFIED. PLS. ADVISE

Besides small differences such as the engine tag, the major visible difference is the 605 power unit has tall blocks and the original GVI engine has short blocks.

I have a U doing the same thing. Pretty sure the problem is in the regulator.

I agree with Tom asecond or two on choke is all you need. As far as running on liquid I almost never do unless they are really working hard. Try keeping your thottle down so the engine dosen't need as much lp to run when you are starting.

Could be a couple of things. My LP tractors seem to start and run the first several minutes best if started at a relatively low RPM throttle setting. Around 800 RPM to start. I have never had to leave the choke engaged for more than a second or two. Not enough fuel is getting to the engine so it may only need a tiny turn of a carburator screw that meters the fuel. The LPG that is entering the carb is always vapor no matter which tank valve you open. The convertor is the regulator. The starting on vapor is necessary in winter when the outside temp is too cold to vaporize the liquid fuel. The engine coolant warms the liquid so it will vaporize. Unless there is a problem with the convertor, the vapor to the carb should be constant.
I run mine on vapor until the engine reaches operating temp, about ten minutes and then change to liquid. I don't have a GB; but the M670 manual covers everything about LP you need to know. Deere and Ford service manuals all have good generic information on LP systems and they are all very similar.
