hey guys on the forum, I live pretty close to this tractor and am in the market for something to build into a hot farm puller, what do you guys think about this tractor. What about weight and h.p. Also, is it too nice to do that to it?

97 pto hp
87 drawbar hp
2.2-17.4 mph
dry weight 10,160

That would make a great farm tractor. Coming from a farm boy, the only thing that would pull for me would be a big plow. That diesel, 3 point, live PTO, power steering, would make a very useful tool for a farmer. I hope you can get it.

Is this a turbo tractor, and I really was planning on pulling a weight sled not a set of plows. I grew up on a farm but don't farm now. I want to build a hot farm puller and have read that the MM's have strong rear ends and bottom ends in their motors.

I agree with KX that would be a really nice farm tractor, that was back when they made more modern tractors that were still built heavy like the antiques. I would hate to see that good farm tractor chopped up and suped up into a puller. Just my 2 cents, I know the guys on the pulling forum would disagree with me..... .

That tractor should have the 504ci Moline engine with no charger I think.

Stock G900 Diesel has 451 cubic inch engine without turbo. Smaller bore but same stroke as 504 engine. That tractor looks too good to turn into a puller but if you buy it its yours and you can do anything you want with it. You can make power with a Moline diesel but it will cost you more than starting with an LP or gas. They made 1946 G900 diesels and only 670 G900 LP and gas versions.

td,
Of course if you could get it do what you like with it but I agree with Shep, cutting this up would be a shame. I would think you could get more horses cheaper from a LP or Gas tractor. This is a modern tractor built like Shep said, heavy. They are solid as a tank. Building a Diesel to pull would require turbo etc where getting a gas to pull would be machine work. All you need is a drawbar. Look at that 3 point, remotes and such. I wish that were in Odessa, Tx not Odessa, NY!

It does look awfully nice to cut up. What I would really like is a cummins powered machine, a White or Oliver which would be run in the superstock class. There is a lightweight superstock in Nebraska that I like a lot, it is called "diggin it" and is supposedly a Cockshutt 570 rearend with an 8.3 cummins on alcohol under new White sheetmetal. The idea of building a hot farm would be for me to get some experience pulling. I get lots of good ideas on this forum and appreciate everyone's help. TD

Now your talking my language, I have done lots of Cummins/Oliver repowers, all mine are for farm tractors but that does make a real nice tractor when your done and it has tons of power. Dont get me wrong I still dont like cutting up and pulling nice tractors, but when the engines blow and you are using the tractors on the farm, a repower is the way to go. Here are some of the ones that I have done, I know they are not Molines, but we have some Molines too.....

I have owned two different G-900's and they are great farming tractors, probably one of the best MM's ever built. However,an MM diesel is not the tractor to build for pulling.MM's are being pulled on gas, alky, and LP with good results. The 451 MM diesel is not a direct injection motor so that hurts it right from the start for making lots of horses. We have some people pulling G-1350 MM diesels here in MO with decent results as the 585 motor is direct injection and can make some power.
