Rotary mower size

I'm planning to buy a KingKutter rotary mower for my 8N. I'll be sure to put an ORC on the shaft too especially since I'll be mowing near a quarry cliff.

My question is about the size of mower to buy. I'll be using it for light duty work and prefer not to over stress the tractor or mower. I'm inclined to buy a 4' because of less weight. Do any of you have opinions on the pros and cons of 4' versus 5'wide mowers?

Thanks and best to all.

Bob

Thanks to all of you for the advice on mower size. I'll get a 5' model.

I agree with Ed.
I bought a new 5' KK rotary Memorial Day Weekend
and I like it a lot. It mows right up to the edge of the tires. And my 2N raises and lowers it just
fine. I had thought about a 4' but am glad I went to the 5'.

My Opinion, If you don't have a mower the same size as your tractor tire span, It becomes hard to cut up next to say a fence, property line or maybe the edge of quarry cliff. Hope this helps

I have a 5' KK finish mower I like a great deal. 5' works well because the deck is about as wide as my rear tires. If they fit past an obstruction, so will the mower.
