Couple of years ago I bought a neighbor's side
mower that he used on his 9N for years. Sold the
9N, was selling his place, so I ended up with a
pallet of parts. Will start putting it together
soon, but was wondering if anybody here was
familiar with this particular mower. It hooks up
to the PTO and runs forward on the right side. I
think it is all there, but would like to know that
someone here could help out if I have a problem.
Thanks!

We have a side mower, fits our 8N. We use it to cut 55 acres of grass hay. Let me know what you need to know.

After getting all these responses, I hied myself
down to the shop to look for numbers (found some)
and a PTO pulley (got one). The mower has a
six-foot bar and the following numbers:
N-14-A, N-259-A, N-89-1, N-161-C, N9B-A, and
N-258-A. Have not found a name anywhere on it
yet, but there is a fair amount of dirt and rust
yet to be knocked off. This is a very well made
mower, very heavy. I will post progress as it
occurs. Thanks!

Sorry, I flunked mind reading, just ask my ex-wife. There are a number of sidemount sickle bar mowers that could fit a 9N. But if'n you can find any sort of identification tag, model number, etc....I'd bet these good folks at www.n-news.com have a copy in their "archives", just go brousing..... ..Dell

Carnak says it is a Dearborn model 14-4 or 14-3

Only difference is the length of the cutter bar

If Carnak is right I have a manual that was kept in a mayonese jar on Funk and Wagnall's porch but it is readable.

bj,

Didn't you ask about the pully that goes on the PTO shaft for a side mount mower? Did you find one? I just checked with NH, and of course, it is "no longer serviced."

I got one with an 8N I bought three years ago. It was one of the reasons I bought the tractor. Naturally, when it got delivered some of the mower parts were missing. It had been taken off the tractor and stored in a shed. I checked back and found that the guy had bought it with the mower off and never tried to use it. So he has no clue where the parts are. :-((

I haven't had the time to see if I could find a junk yard that had one. If you find one would you let me know - after you get the parts you need, of course. :-)

Regards,
Larry

Your memory is correct

Still looking for that drive pulley since my experience parallels yours with the last owner

I have a couple of leads and one might turn into a parts mower. If I score I will be willing to share the wealth
