Noise from rear wheel

When I move my 46 2N faster than approx 1/2 throttle in 2nd gear, I get a loud noise coming from the right rear wheel. I just did the brakes on both sides, and didn't notice any problems in the hubs, but I wasn't looking for any either. Does this sound like bad bearings? I did pack them with wheel bearing grease. The tire was loaded but I drained the calcium and filled with air, could some calcium have solidified and be banging around or something else in the tire? This is the first time the tractor has run since I got it, so I can't tell you if this is a new problem. Thanks for any responses, Rick

Rick, definately not the calcium. If you only hear the noise in 2nd gear I would suspect a transmission problem. Did you torque the axle nut to 450 lbs? Did you adjust the axle end play according to spec?

Chris, it seems that the noise occurs only above certain ground speed, no matter what gear it's in. If I drive in 2nd and only 1/4 throttle, I hear nothing. The end play was adjusted correctly, but I'm not sure about the axle nuts. Is this the 6 nuts that hold the hub to the trumpet?

Rick,

I must have been having a brain fart last night when reading your post. I read 8N when you clearly stated 2N. Axle nut does not apply to your N. Only other thing I can think of is possibly the inner bearings at the differential. Good luck.
