Been there, done that!! :-) Last year, I was mowing around the edges of a small hay field with my Ford 3000. Learned long ago to "hide" down beside the hood as you go under trees. This time the tree had so many low branches that even though my head was below the hood it got my glasses before I could react. Weeds were so thick on the ground that there was no point in looking for them. So I finished the job "blind", almost anyway, I'm nearsighted at over 20/400 uncorrected. This year I mowed the edges of the same field. A weekend later I walked that edge to look at the power lines which are to have the trees trimed. As I ducked to go under that tree, there lay my glasses. They where only dirty, even though I had driven over then at least twice since I had them knocked off. Mowing under trees with overhanging branches makes me think of the moto of sailors in the days of "tall ships" and sails. "One hand for you and one hand for the ship." I drive with one hand on the steering wheel and one hand to ward off limbs, vines, and blackberry bushes. Speeking of vines, I once had a wild grape vine stop my 3000 it was so big! I've also had them "change" the direction I was going by tens of degrees as they hung up on the front axle. One other hazard mowing with my 3000. It has a ROPS that will sometimes catch a limb and knock you in the BACK of the head with it as you go by. So It is not good enough to duck down by the hood as you encounter a limb, you must watch out that you don't get a "rebound". Ain't bush hoggn' fun?!?!? If I was doing it for pay, I'd insist on "combat" pay! :-) Regards, AND, BE SAFE!!! Larry
