I just bought a 52 Ford 8n, the carbuetor that was given to me with the tractor I do not believe is the correct one. When mounted the throttle and choke linkage are facing out, away from the block. I think that they should be to the inside. I can turn the entire carbuertor around and mount it so that they are, however, then the air intake is facing the wrong way. What I have is a Marvel Schebbler TSX541, and I think I need the TSX241. If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. Also I looked in the parts on here and it does not list the Marvel Sheppler, it does give a part number though, so if anyone knows that would help also..

thanks

Robert

The TSX541 is spec'd for a Continental Industrial engine.

Robert... just some information to past along. The "old" Marvel-Schebler carb people sold out some years past. It is now known as "MSP" and that is own by Precision Airmotive. If you would like I can give you a person name to contact with Technical Support, and he may guide you on the TSX541 carb, you have. You may not know this, but these Marvel-Schebler carbs was use on aircraft since l930's. There is a new version of this old updraft carb.and it just may work on these N tractors. My '49 8N has the TSX33 carb. as Ford use these on the 9N and 2N tractors. I guess I got a leftover on my 8N. It still works great and dosn't leak. I set my float at 9/32 and never have to shut the gas off at the tank.
The throttle and choke linkage is on the inside, and air intake goes to the rear.
Good luck.

Look on this page under the Article Archives. Go down to Maintenance and Mechanical Information. Look for an article called "Step by Step Carburator Overhaul". Don has some good pics of a carb close up. Maybe this will help you indentify whether what you have is an 8N carb.
