NAA coil- I'm stumped

My NAA (with 12V conversion) developed a starting problem where sometimes it would turn over on the first crank, sometimes not at all. Finally, it was not at all. This all happened in the course of just a few days. Up til this time, it started first crank every time.
The positive line to the coil does spark, but nothing from there to distributor cap. I changed the coil wire, and the coil. Still nothing. Found out I had wrong coil. Exchanged it for right coil. Still nothing at the end of coil wire going into the distributor cap. Anyone have any ideas what else might be the source of the problem? Thanks in advance.

Voila! I replaced the points and condenser and she started right up. I checked all the wires for continuity, as was suggested, and isolated the problem to the distributor. I originally didn't think it was that, because when I overhauled, I put on a new dist. I sure was scratching my head on this one. Thanks to all who answered-you guys were a BIG help.

No, battery is new. Engine only has 27 hours on it since I overhauled it. At that time put in new distributor, plugs, plug wires and dist. cap. Will have to check the points look OK, but think I will replace them and condenser and see what happens.

Hi Ron K, You say you have voltage coming to the coil. How much? But nothing to the distibuter cap. I guess you mean the high tension lead to the center of the cap. Turn the key off and remove from the coil lead going to the bistributer body. Make sure the points are open. With a ohm meter Check this lead to ground. It should be open ( nothing to ground ). If you show any contenuity check all leads related to the distributer for a short. Check the fiber spacers.
If it reads open turn the engine to close the points. That should read almost perfect contenuity to ground. Make sure the point gap is set correct.

I would change the Points and Condenser for starts.

And might as well through in a set of Plugs.

On my Jubilee there is a White Chalk Resister before the Coil. Make sure the element isn't burnt into.

I also had the wire from the coil to the distribitor, had a bad connection. Clean all termenals.

Good luck
