I posted a while back about the guy that wanted to sell his 8N and didn't know the value. He and I have became pretty good friends. He also had a one owner, 1977 dodge 1 ton, with 28K orignal miles, that is now mine. I usually haul my tractors with an F250, and tilt trailer, but if I could devise some kind of ramps to load on this dodge, I would be in business, since it has A/C, cruise and tilt, and a big 440HP motor.
So here is the question, if I were to build or have built, a set of ramps, that were 10ft long. Would three pieces of 3/16" thick, 4" tall "I" beam for each ramp, covered with diamond plate be strong enough to roll a 4000lb vehicle across without buckling under the load?, these would have to be all aluminum, just so I could move them.
The truck has a 12ft steel bed, I'll mount a winch up front to pull the load up on the bed, and the back is about 3 feet off the ground. thanks for any help or advice

i don't think i would put a 4000 lb tractor on the back of a 1 ton pickup even if it would fit up there. sounds like you purchased a good truck tho. just my 2 cents.

If the one ton truck has dual rears factory the that truck has a 10,000 lb gross weight. When you subtract the weigh of the truck you have 4,000 to 6,000 lbs for cargo.

4000lb on a 1 ton truck, is no differant than 1 ton on our 1/2 ton pickups, and who hasn't done that??

the ramps just need to be capable of 4K, for safety's sake, I'm not sure but I believe the 8n weighs less than that
