Well guys, I really dont believe this, but I became the (proud?) owner of both an 8N and a 9N the other day. Story goes like this. My father bought and sold and collected tractors all his life. Being a chip off the old block, yours truly has also. Well, Dad passed way suddenly a couple years ago. After giving mother some time to heal, we knew we had to have an auction. Big sale, almost 1200 lots sold and over 400 bidding numbers out. To make a long story short, at the end of the day, I own both an 8N & 9N. Both are complete, have compression on all 4 cylinders, but were not running by the time of the sale. $700.00 for the 9N and $800.00 for the 8N. Now I've made as many Ford jokes as anyone, (only good for getting the mail and checking gopher traps....)but now I am going to have to be quiet and give these 2 a fair chance. Who knows, maybe I'll have a whole new attitude?

Hey Rick....these little Fords will suck you in. I grew up an AC guy. My old neighbors all think I went over to the dark side with my little 2N. But to be honest, it is twice the tractor a B, C or CA is. I think you'll find that a N is a better all oround tractor than everything IH made smaller than an H (of coarse we are talking vintage here). And even an H isn't as maneuverable.

Bottom line, is that they are all good. I don't get caught up in all that green, red, Orange hoopla, I think they all beat a horse!

take Care
Steve

Is this a confessional? Me too! With 12 Ns in the barn, I bought a red H two weeks ago.

And I'm just about ready to clinch the following deal:
My brother's 52 JD 50 with loader
in exchange for taping the sheetrock in his cabin.
Wasn't gonna mention it here but if a guy can fess up to a Farmall I can admit to a green one.
My good tractor will remain the 2N though.
Welcome to the N board

Welcome aboard Rick. I have a similar story. I purchased a Farmall Super A last fall for my Dad. So, I became a Farmaller and have visited "your" board occasionally. So...we're even. :-)

Take care,
Tyman
