I went down to get a set of true copper core spark plug wires for my 8N (to replace the 2 slashed wires that had a entanglement with the nearby fanbelt) (grin) --- This is what the local NAPA place sold me --- tin coated copper wire --
check out pics and let me know if I should get something else or is this adequate - at $17.50 for the 4 - it seems kinda pricey.
Let me know what ya'll think...

Andy..... the "tin" is on the copper wire so you can "solder" the wire to the brass end clips that fit down inna the distributor cap holes. Use only "radio" rosin core solder. Use any type alcohol to clean off the melted rosin flux after soldering. DO NOT USE ACID CORE SOLDER, its for radiator and copper pipe repair..... ..Dell

Can you help me udnerstand why the plugs would be so rusted & the electrodes coated with the dark black carbon buildup. My 8n is always kept under a shelter out of the elements. (however the air is quite humid) (grin) ---

Should I adjust the fuel ratio due to the fouling or how do the plugs look? See other post below for the pic of the plugs.

Thanks
Andy

Andy..... .yeah, your plug was a little black, but I didn't think too much about it. Because, I guessed you might have been jiggering around with your carb needles to try and get your power back. (that you un-knowingly were loosing thru bad sparkies) Get your sparkies undercontrol, and then work your tractor and then look at your plugs for color. As long as they're not carboned deposited or oily sooty, you're probably just a little rich right now.

I always use Permatex hightemp "Anti-seize" on my sparkplugs. (kinda silvery looky pucky). Torque plugs in castiron head 22-25 ft/lbs. Rust on the sparkplug shell doesn't hurt 'em as long as the white insulators are kept dry and clean..... Dell

Hmmm, You sure you bought sparkplug wires Andy? That silver thing on the box looks like a BNC connector to me.... ;>) They probably "tinned" them to make them structurally stronger than copper alone.
