found a 1953 ford 601 workmaster today.tires poor ,sheet metal small amount of rust , fenders small amount of rust,is not running, owner said he had to keep the choke out to keep it running the last time he had it running.he also said the hyd. pump plate gasket was leaking under the tractor.
stering is tight, brakes had a good pedal.did not hear run.needs exaust pipe & muffler.does these tractors have live hyd? it looks like some kind of a pump made on the side of engine maybe driven by flywheel.owner is asking 1500.00 does this sound like a fair price? does anybody know how much horse power this baby has? thanks in advance, andy

Rasputen, do you think the fenders would fit on a 8N.? That is bolt without any modifications.
I sure like those fenders and the way they are made. Are they being made so a person could buy them?

What is a Ford 601 Workmaster worth nowdays?
Needs new radiator, probably a general overhaul.

The year and model dont match. If you have a 1953 it would be the jubilee model(basicly the same tractor) and if you have a 601 it would have to be a year model 1958-1962. They are a bigger tractor than an N with 32hp and live hydraulics. You can determine the sn and model with the link. Price might be a deal if hyd, trans, tires are good and maybe not too much work on the engine or it can be a money pit without testing all the functions.

How much do you trust the seller ? Big problem here, it's not running. Why ? Just an air leak on the intake, or is it a cracked block ? Is the engine stuck ? Will he guarantee the block ? Why won't it run now with the choke pulled just like before. I suggest you try to get the thing started. My Dad always said, if it's too good a deal to believe, then it probably is. My $.02

If it is a 1953 then it is not a 601 Workmaster. If it really is a 601 Workmaster, then it is not a 1953. None of this is very important if it is basically sound. I would try to get it running. the price could be pretty good or not so good depending on the true condition.
