-To replace the two lower ones was $250.00.- I assume by that sentence the work has already been completed. If so: 1. The person doing the work should have pointed out any problem with the upper joints. Not doing so would result in a "comeback complaint" should you experience a front end shimmy or noise. 2. If the work has already been done, it would mean taking everything back apart that was just taken apart thus costing double! If the work has not been done yet, make sure it's checked out completely, if you're going to take it apart, you might as well fix whatever needs to now. If you're checking it yourself: Jack the front end up so the suspension hangs just off the ground (don't forget the jackstands) Slide a prybar under the front wheel, using upward force check for any vertical play. Grab the wheels at the 3 - 9 o'clock and then the 12 - 6 o'clock and check to see if any play is evident. Then check the components themselves, see if the rubber dust covers are torn, etc. If so, dirt and water will hasten failure. A lot of the older ball joints will have wear indicators on them at the grease fitting, as the joint wears out the fitting recedes into the joint.
