A Ford advertised as an 8N, then as a Jubiless sold at a retirement auction this week here in central Iowa. It was actually a 650 with 5-speed. No rust, but a few dings under new medium-quality paint. A "rings, valves, bearings" overhaul 2-years ago. Motor sounded good. Tires medium. Lots of interest in this tractor, but acreage owners chickened out. A local scalper bid $3,100. Somebody will pay $4,000 or more in a few weeks. Mike-Iowa

Got my 850 for $2500. Named it "Lumpy" for obvious reasons. Runs good. Compression check shows evidence of bad head gasket, but all in all I'm happy with the deal.

Central Iowa - where ya from? There is an Auction this weekend (April 1st) between Traer and Reinbeck that has several older Implements and Tractors on it. There are several rear blades, bush hog type mowers and several tractors. I was up there last night looking around and the only Ford I saw was a 4000 which did not appear to be in bad shape. There was also a pretty straight Farmall 400 with a front end loader. If anyone is looking for something let me know and I can find out if there is going to be anything there and what kind of shape its in.

at auction in Enumclaw, WA (western WA) Sunday. A fair looking 8N with loader went for $2300, a good running, decent looking (for a brush paint job) 8N with new tires went for $2000 and a ratty looking 8N went for $1300. All the tractor prices were lower this year than last. Normally 8Ns bring at least $3K at that auction.

It figured I had to be out of town this past weekend. It's nice to catch up on a bit of the local action. Man, I LOVE going to that auction, too. Did they have a good amount of equipment - generally filling up the lot?

I'm more of a Farmall guy, so I was looking for an A or Super A, no luck. They had a couple Fergusons (TE-20 I think) that didn't sell, a BIG Oliver 2150 that went for $4300 and a Farmall Cub that went for $500. Prices were low for almost everything.

Mike,
If you happen to run across a nice heavy duty used bush hog mower for sale in central Iowa, please send me an email. I'm in the market. Sounds like a heck of a steal for the rapidly evolving Ford. BrentD@iastate.edu
