Hi Sarah,

As I read your "Sarah the survey girl 14:29:49 07/19/01" reply, this is as much a web page design project as anything else. Correct?

If so may I offer you some possible help. I am a Macintosh guy - HATE MS and don't have enough time to say why - and spent 15 years in a computer center. I can send you jpg images of what my screen looks like when I have your web pages up on my browser, which is Netscape, naturally. I can even send you from two different platforms, here at home and also at work. email me if you'd like the images.

Also, there are several VERY good computer guys that frequent this board. Andy - Hammond, LA is one that stands out since he has replied to your post. They may be able to offer you some "pointers" on web page design, etc. and critque (constructively of course) your pages. I'll make one now - your home page has two buttons, the "Home" button I would make inactive since you are already on that page - that's the engineer logic in me. :-)

I have one other question. What did it take to get the web URL>Link

We'll expect regular updates on your "project" AND a full report at the end of the semester. As one reply said, most of us here are more than old enough to be your dad and some of us have been counselors for various youth orginizations so we often act like "surogate" parents to those young folks that come to us for help/comments/advice/etc. :-)

Best wishes on your project,
Larry

I filled out the survey and good luck on your project. Hope you type better on your report that in your letters posted here. The rules must have changed since I graduated from high school some 45 years ago. The word "I" was always capitalized as was the first word of every sentence. A little extra effort will produce a better impression!!

i agree! if she can create a web page she should be able to cut and paste from MS Word.

Now, how many guys would reply if she was a 45 year old fat guy and not a (drool, slobber) young college co-ed?

i'm enjoying the latest comments, and since you all took the time to write, i'll write a little more. i chose the 8n after talking to someone who aprreciates tractors with historical value and we agreed it would be a good one to research. i go to college where the majority of people are city or suburbia kids. as a farmgirl i'm a minority and i kind of like that and use it to my advantage. so a lot of times i'll do projects on farm issues/topics. for instance, one time i gave an informative speech on the basics of farming. everyone got a kick out of that, especially when they learned there was a difference b/w sweet corn and field corn!!! anyways, i'm only using the 8n (instead of the 8n, 2n and 9n) to keep the project simple. if anyone has any further questions or suggestions email me, either negative or positive, and i'll answer them personally.

I am sorry to upset anyone, that is not my intent. I AM a college student who is trying to learn how to publish a webpage and gather data online. I chose the topic due to my background. I live on a farm in Ohio and thought it would be interesting to learn more about the topic. my colleg email is schwiese@muohio.edu, i chose hotmail because i can keep this information and my personal email separate. so please use my hotmail account if you have any concerns. again, i am sorry. please do not participate if you are uncomfortable with the survey.

Hey Sarah

You can use these responses and survey results for a project for psyc class too since something like twenty per cent of the responders exhibit clinically significant symptoms of paranoia

Your mileage may vary

From previous surveys here, most of us are guys in our 40's and over 200lbs. [[Just in case that helps your survey.]]

Jimp Co made some good points: 9N/2Ns. Looking at the production link to the left, some 100,000 1939-41 9Ns were made. Nearly 200,000 1942-47 2Ns made. Some 524,000 8Ns made.

Also some picky points on your survey (if I were reviewing it):
4b: has typo (avg. "working"...should be "looking?")
6: can't read text well, cut in half.
9: Asks for a yes/no, but no check box to say either. Multiple choice answers.

I like the "other" boxes.

Good job and let us know the results of your survey/project/grade!!!

Sarah, Why just the 8N? There are many of us that have 9and2N's . Just curious, but you w3ould gathere more data if you increased the base to include all N's , then broke it down to each model.
Good luck.

"SARA THE SURVEY GIRL"

I like the way that sounds.

Just took the survey - hope it is okay since I am not an 8N owner I answered the survey as such.

Well, thanks for the warm and concerned response. I take my hat off to you and apologize. It is just not everyday that some "lady folks" make it into this neck of the woods. (grin) Did you choose the 8N because that is your favorite tractor and/or did you have any Ns back on the farm in Ohio?

Another very intriguing and interesting aspect of N owners, at least here in this forum, is the wide variety of professional areas that we are involved. We have rocket scientists, optical/electrical/civil/structural/chemical engineers, teachers, professors, firemen, surveyors, inventors, and some good ole' boys who ply their trade with good ole fashioned farming and manual labor. This is by far the most surprising aspect of this forum that I have noticed about N owners since I have been here.

Good luck with your paper. There are many good sites with N specific info - Hope you are able to share the results with us and perhaps us some of us as character sources in your paper. We have some incredible intellecual property around here.

Regards and Best Wishes,
Andy

I went to check it out, but as I use Netscape, I only saw the description of what the project is.
I sent an email to her to see if it only worked with IE and she responded fairly quickly that she guessed so. She is doing it to learn internet skills. Maybe she's someone on this board's daughter at college?

What classroom assignment would this rather 8N specific information be required for? What is your hypothesis and what do you intend to provide with the statistical information about our buying habits as 8N owners do you intend to provide?

Seems like that you are missing some information if this is truly an "informational or historical study" -

Andy

I saw this link a day or 2 ago and wouldn't "do it" then. I've got no problem w/helping someone out but would like to know more before "I put my name on the bottom line".

Anyway, I've got a 9n/2n, so does it really apply to me & "my toy"????

I don't but it either. What does a classroom assignment have to do with the ownership and buying traits of Ford 8N tractor owners. Sounds like some commercial marketing info that is to be sold to a potential advertising or SPAM distribution agency. As far as the email account, it is just a HOTMAIL account. No security there! If she is really serious and wishes to debunk my claims then let her speak forth and clear the air. (and provide us with her collegiate email account)

Andy
