I just order a 1947 8N manual how close is the manual to say a 1951 or 1952 8N, because thats what I think I have. numbers stamp on the block are 8N401338 Serial 4991, Model 14.3 some other numbers I are NF81, 8NB 2 8H 8N7006

Alan,

Where did you find a '47 manual to "order?" Is it a reprint or original? The reason I ask is most of the reprints that I have seen are of the 1952 manual. I was not aware that a '47 manual was available as a reprint. The '52 is available at TSC and Quality Farm & Fleet and affiliated stores. The '52 is what you want since as Clause says it is for the side distributor.

Which manual?

If an operator's manual you won't notice a difference. If an F O 4 repair manual it covers the whole N series. If some other manual guess there could be a difference.

There are a few substantial differences, such as distributor type, point gap, steering box, proof meter, Generator current output, oil pump capacity and a few other minor changes.
