The oil pressure on my 2 N runs about 80 lbs when cold and 20 when warm. I have removed the relief spring and plunger. They appear to be free but the ball on the end of the plunger has a flat spot on it. Is this normal? Can I put the bolt back on with out the relief spring and plunger and start it to see if that lets the pressure down? If so the problem is probably in the spring and plunger. I don't know much about this so any information would be appreciated.

We have similar oil pressures. I pulled my plunger also and noticed the flat spot too. I asked the board sometime back and was told it was supposed to be that way, so the timing gears get oil. As for the oil pressure goes...run it...and be happy.
