Any of you guys be interested in getting together for a BBQ?. Most likely be done in different areas since we all can't travel all over the states.

It would sure be interesting to meet some of you guys...might be a bit scary too LOL.

If anyone in the Central NY area is interested let me know I'd be willing to try and set up something.

Just a thought.

Sal

That would be a great thing to do. I have been looking for the date of the one previously mentioned for SE Georgia. Will be on my way to CO,WY,MT,ALB,BC,WA & back in mid Aug. thru mid Sept so will not be in touch at those times. If anything happens in the SE states I can be there at most any other time. Thanks for entertaining the thought People!

Sal, I'll be rollin' through your area sometime during the time frame of August 22th through 27th. Wife said she would have to come too. Can't bring the N. I've thought about having a get together here at my place in FL and another member has mention having one at his place in south GA.

I make a mean ham/sausage/whatever jambalaya. We'll fry up some beignets and pick some music. I don't think alligator tastes like chicken...unless it's a rubber chicken. Isn't okra gumbo redundant?

Bienvenue à vous-autres!

Sounds awesome and no okra gumbo is not redundant. Dell might know electrons and skip a feww beats about his misreading problems (grin) but I am a Louisiana native and I know gumbo! I guess that "okra" gumbo is a little generic but here are some of my favorites:
Chicken & Sausage Gumbo, Oyster Gumbo, Seafood Gumbo, Shrimp & Collards Gumbo, Shrimp and Crab Gumbo, Smoked Duck and Andouille Gumbo, hliday Turkey Gumbo and Turtle Gumbo.

And of course if this thing is held on Monday (grin) we gotz to have a big pot of Red Beans and Rice complete with seasoned ham hocks and bay leaves!!!!! ! I GUARAAAAA AAAANNNNN TEEEEE EEE!!!

hehehe. I have some FABULOUS 3rd-4th generation Cajun/Creole recipes. Like my grandfather used to say about good Louisiana food, "It will make a dog go back to huntin!!!!!"

Andy..... .back in 68 used to go to "Felix's" in the quarter, knock down 2 doz 'ersters on half, then wander up the street a little to preservation hall and belch a little. (grin)

Then there was this great seafood place across the bridge, my-o-my the gumbo.....all I remember right now is if'n ya turned right outta the drop-in Hilton, ya went to the quarter, turn left and past the airport and left across the river. But it makes my mouth water even tonight 33 yrs later.

And yummy, red beans and rice.....now I got a sticky keyboard..... .....Del

Depends on what you call BBQ....Eastern NC lays claim to REAL BBQ: wood-cooked whole hog seasoned with vinegar/pepper. The rest of the world doesn't seem to like or appreciate it.

Dave#1 lives up there somewhere. Bring a keg of Coors Light and the video camera. Fun times will follow.

bg, Dave#1 is about 10 miles from me. As for real BBQ your way sounds good to me...maybe I should just call it a cook out and not start a beef and pork war LOL...be well.

Someone told me that you need three things for a NY BBQ: a big steak, a keg of beer and a hound dawg. Feed the steak to the dawg and drink the beer.
