How many showers does it take?

In the last two weeks I've change from 6-12 volts, replaced two head gaskets/had head shaved successfully, a complete tune-up, and misc. adjustments on my 2N. The most recent concern is it seems to be losing power under load. I checked all filters except the one above bowel, under gas tank (I think it's the governor), but there is a steady stream, so it must be clean enough?
Anyway I run the 2N or cut grass for a few hours and return to the house and take a shower. (the heat and humidity in Missouri is about 100) I immediately get on this website and review the 2N reactions and possible solutions. I then run back to the barn and complete the sequence again.
My wife is washing clothes everyday and I am averaging three showers/day.
Well I have this thing about getting it right and you folts certainly are helping.
Thanks

Why are you taking so many showers? Just tough it out. When I was a kid, I worked in tobacco. I'd change clothes 2-3 times a day when they got gummy. My grandmama told me she wasn't going to wash all those clothes, and threatened to switch my legs. I learned to wear the same clothes all week, even though I could literally stand them up in the corner after a day's work.
AS far as the power loss, it may be the governor or timing. To see if it's the governor, put it in 2nd, give it 1/3 throttle, hold both brakes on and ease out on the clutch. If the governor is working, you'll hear the engine try to speed up as you engage the clutch. If it's not working, the engine will bog down or stall. It's a simple matter to remove the governor and inspect the innards.

This I got to see. A normal 2N has the left brake pedal on the left, next to the clutch pedal. How do you hold down both brake pedals and release the clutch at the same time? It works on an 8N or 9N-2N modified like my '47 with the left brake on the right like an 8N. Just asking.

I would also be very interested in seeing the brake modifications to use on my 2N 1946 model

Just a 0300 mistake. Actually you can use your 3rd leg, nose the 2N up to a large tree, chain it to a John Deere, drive it in a ditch, use the right or left pedal only, or get a smart-a** neighbor to stand on one pedal while you stand on the other. There are just so many options. The principle is the same: put the engine under a load and see how it reacts. Or get rid of the 2N and get a tractor that makes more sense.

I'm interested in the details of your brake modification. Do you have any pictures that you could post or e-mail to me?

Hey Russ, where abouts in Mo. are you at? I live in the south east about 50 miles west of Cape Girardeau.

When you changed to 12 volt, did you change to Pertronix/Genisis electronic ignition? If not , why not?

He has a 2N. Unfortunately, there isn't yet a Pertronix ignition available for the front mount distributor — regardless of voltage.
