First off I just want to let you guys know what an excellent job you are doing. Without your expert advice you would have to wonder how many more 9, 2 & 8N’s would have landed up in the scrap heap by now. I bought a 1942 9N, with a plow, a disker and a blade 2 weeks ago for $900.00 Cdn (that’s about $20.00 U.S. haha). Besides putting around on it I have plowed for a day and disked for 2 days. I have been able to find the answers to the few problems I had in the archives (running hot, missing under load, hydraulics) and have found most of the parts I will need for the winter fix up but I am not having any luck locating original style head lights, a seat or the sheet metal footrests behind the steel pegs. Any help would be appreciated. One other thing is that I would like to post a picture of the beast but I am just used to attaching a pic and do not understand the “url” thing, any advice would be appreciated. I’m using Netscape 4.61. Thanks, Doug.

Hi Doug, what part of Canada are you living ? There is quite a difference from the cost of materials in U.S. and Canada. (Much cheaper in U.S.). I do have a 48 8n , which was beat around quite bad before I made the purchase and if I was doing it again would get one in a little better condition. Have come quite attached to the machine and all the information is available on this board from a nice group of people Talk to you later
Cheers, Murray

Dave, It's almost a 4 hour dirve for us...he's got some good stuff and he adds to his collection regularly...he is getting along in years...so I don't know how much longer he'll be around, but if he has what you want he seems to be decent on the price and he offers an interesting brand of conversation. I need to get some things down there..going to try and get there in a week or two, it'll be a long day down and back.

Peace

Sal

URL stands for Uniform Resource Location. When you look at anything on the internet, photos, text, etc., it has a unique URL.

It seems that you are somehat computer savy, so you probably know how large image files can get. With everything on the internet having a URL, when a webite needs the file, it will read a temporary copy of it and discard it when it is no longer finished. This saves on storage space all around.

So, for your photo to be seen here, it has to be at a location where the "internet" can see it whenever it needs to. For instance, many ISPs provide space for their clients to store web pages and such.

third party image

Here is the first picture taken of my son, right after th c-section that delivered him. This picture is stored on my ISPs server and is available by its URL of>Link

Link alt='third party image' src="http://albums.photopoint.com/j/View?u=1372856&a=10724307&p=51531343" loading="auto" style="width:auto;height:auto">

The picture of my now 3 yr old son on the tractor is stored in my account at Photopoint.com. Photopoint is convienient for storing and sharing photographs without the complexities of FTP uploading to websites. Photopoint is a paid subscription but worth it to me for the convienience.

Hope ths helps explain URLs and why they are needed for sharing photos at this website. Ofcourse, if there is a picture you just have to share, e-mail it to me and I will post it to my photopoint account.

Ed

Ed, thanks, I'll give it a try over the next couple of days, I have some web space somewhere, just have to figure how to get to it. If I get too frustrated you will be hearing from me. Thanks again, Doug
