1953 Ford NAA Tractor-- Water is getting into the hydraulic reservoir and differential, and the hydraulic fluid and gear lube seem to be mixing together somewhere internally in the differenial.
What could be the causes and solution?

On the Jubilee and NAA, unlike the 8N, the Transmission, Hydraulic reservoir and Differential housing are separated from one another by seals and do not share a common reservoir. The transmission has a capacity of 6 quarts, hydraulics 8 quarts and differential is 8 quarts. The shifter boot is a good bet on the transmission for the water and further back you are probably looking at seals.

Don't know if NAA is the same as a 8N, but here goes. Be sure to remove all 3 drain plugs. Replace the gear shift boot and replace gaskets anywhere you might think it might leak. There is a little felt washer on the top link up against the differential case. Good luck

Have you drained, flushed and refilled, did it happen again? Do you leave it out in the rain and do all your fill plugs and covers have gaskets? Have you ever pushed it in a pond?

All fluids have been flushed and re-filled. There are no gaskets on the fill plugs (will replace these). Tractor does sit outside.

But, how does hydraulic fluid get into the differential? Is this normal? If not, what do we do? Many thanks.

On these tractors, the hydraulics and the differential, as well as the transmission share the same fluid. Most likely cause of water getting into the system is via a faulty shift lever boot. They can be had for about $3.00 ....
