I recently bought a '52 8N and it has a temperature guage on the lower left side of the instrument panel. Every picture I can find shows only the amp meter, oil pressure, and PTO guage. The temp guage is not connected, and I can't find a place to connect it. Any help?

Larry..thanx for the photo...the guage on mine is noticeably newer than the amp, oil, or PTO guages. I bought the tractor from an elderly relative, and as far back as I can remember, 35 years or more, it ran off gas...not to say it wasn't converted earlier than the mid '60s...thanx again for the possibility...RON

Ron,

Check out the gage in the image linked below.

You may have a gage from a kerosene burner. The location is right.

Regards,
Larry

Ron..... ..yer on yer own when it comes to temp gauges on N-Tractors. Not a factory option. Maybe dealer installed, who knows?

Depends upon how ingenious you are. I have seen 4 types of installation. 1) some heads have a flat spot "boss" that on some Ford 4 cylinder industrial engine installations has been drilled and tapped. 2) some have found enuff "addaptors" to install in the block drain behind the oil filter. 3) some have found "1/4 moon rubber shim" that has a notch that they can fit under the cylinder head radiator hose clamp. 4) some have just cut the upper radiatior hose in half and installed a metal pipe with a brazed in fitting.

Since the N's radiator system is claimed to be overly exceeding needed capacity, most don't bother worrying about a temp gauge..... ..Dell

Thanx for the info Dell...that explains why I haven't seen one in pictures...no problems overheating, so I'll just leave well enough alone. Thanx again.....RON
